PEACE POSTERS CONTEST

# 16th September 2005 # Issue 1

The event took place at the SK Convent Bukit Nenas, and this was the no 5th year the school is selected by Club in promoting "Peace" among children through drawing of Peace Posters. With this year's theme "Peace without borders" participants required to create posters to express their views on the theme given. The event was participated by about 120 children from the school and Club have prepared 10 consolations prizes besides the 3 main winners of Champion , 1st and 2nd runner-ups. The Champion's drawing was sent to District Selection, however it didn't make any entry this year. Our Secretary Lion T.G. Lau was the organizing Chairman for this project.

Lantern Festival - community / Cultural Muhibbah

Club organised the first time a get together of community in promoting harmony -the muhhibah through our chinese Lantern Festival / Mooncakes. The event was spearheaded by our Lion Elsie Yong and have chosen Sri Damansara and its Residence Association in joining hands that have made this event a meaningful and successful one. The evening have reached out to thousands of residents and children of all races to have enjoyed the evening filled with fun games and performances. Our Leo's adopted children home-Precious Home gave a stage performance that have won many applauses. Residents have had a chance to share anf savior the mooncakes and other refreshments together with all the children. We have reached the target of a great fellowship in promoting Muhibah and introduced the "lantern festival" to all Malaysian.

Also, on the next day 17th October, President Alex and few members have sent the reserved mooncakes to "Amitabah" Old Folks home to share the joys with the folks on this auspicious mooncakes festival.

Visit Lions Autistic Center in penance, July 2005

A visit to the "Lions Autistic Center" during our trip in Penang in July lead by our PCC S.T.Yeoh, attended by our President Alex Yeap, Secretary Clarence Lau, Treasurer J.C Wah, Zone Chairman Elaine Tan, members Elliot Chee and MoySuan. It was a touching moment during the visit as we've learned that the Lions care about these special kids and have encouraged parents for their great involvement in the developing and training and counseling given to the autism children and teenagers.

Visit Sister Club, Penang Light

Visit Sister Club, Lions Club of Penang Light on its Anniversary Celebration and Installation of President Leslie Hong and the Board of Directors of fiscal year 2005/2006.It was a celebration of 3 days program, we had a good fellowship night on the 1st night together with other sisters clubs of Penang Light, the LC of Taiwan Chung Hsio; LC of Sydney Bondi;LC of Singapore Host and LC of Perth Scareborough. The banquet night was the installation night and dinner and awards presentation in conjunction with its anniversary.In conjunction with the anniversary, all the sisters clubs joint LC Penang in a community service project that provided Health Screening, Sight First; and Blood Donations services to a school and the nearby community. The project also have donated 60 pairs of spectacles to some needy pupils from 3 different schools and donations of school bags.Like previous years, Fruits Fiesta after the project always made the most interesting part of all program...........because of the King of All Fruits of Malaysia-the Durians were served.The program ended with few more fellowships together with the overseas Lions from Taiwan and Australia like a "Cruise to No where" and fellowship breakfast, lunches
and lots more.Enjoy some of these picture of this program

Our Leo, Leo Club of KL Perennial had spear headed in orgainzing this "Leo Key Officers School" in July 2005.

Visit to "LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR"

Club arranged a party and visit to the "Little Sisters of the Poor" in Cheras, Project Chairperson Lion Yvoone said it was a blessed event and Club has achieved its wishes for bringing the "little sisters of the poor" a funfilled afternoon with our brightest smiles and our companionship provided to the inmates. Club has prepared an early dinner with sumptious of food and drinks for the oldfolks...it was really a memorable and enjoyable event for the oldfolks there and us.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE- Lions Information Night

On 9th September 2005 - LCKLVC jointly with NCLCKLCC organised a "Lions Information Night". The talk have benefited some new members who have just join these 2 clubs, we also have some new faces who are friends of lions who were brought there to be introduced to the Lions Movement by their lions' frineds respectively.The speakers of the night were our Cabinet Secretary who is also a district trainer Lion Tan Kim Fong and District Trainer Lion Desmond Tee. The two have given tremendous force of information on "Lionism" and its movements in the country as well as its relationship internationally.

Work with DBKL- "BUNGA RAYA SEMARAK NEGARA"

On September 4th 2005, KLVC joint many other Clubs in Kuala Lumpur for "Bunga Raya Semarak Negara" in responding to the call of DBKL in promoting plantings of Bunga Raya our national flower. A Press Conference was arranged in the presenced of Tan Sri Dr. Lee, MP for Bukit Bintang, En. Shaari the Pengurus of Kaw DBKL and Mr. Peter Sprhanger, hairman of the Hotelier Assocition who is also the GM of Melia Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Each participated Club spent RM350 and had donated 480 plants and 100 flower pots that being part of the program " Cinta Malaysia by planting Bunga Raya" that promote intergration between NGOs, Political Parties and the Publics.

"The Lions' contribution have been arranged infront of the Melia Hotel Jalan Imbi and, from Federal Hotel Bkt Bintang to BB Plaza Bkt Bintang, and they are very nicely planted and are blooming beautifully with proper nurturing by DBKL until this day.
